Shakirah Luwedde has spent her career life serving and advocating for the rights of the most vulnerable and marginalized groups of people, especially children, in a humanitarian setting focusing on child protection and EiE in Uganda. Currently, she is working for Finn Church Aid as Education in Emergency Coordinator, coordinating education in emergencies (EiE) programming among partners in close coordination with the Ministry of Education and Sports, and UNHCR, ensuring access to quality and inclusive education for children in refugees and host communities in Uganda. She previously worked with Uganda Red Cross Society and Save the Children International. She is a member of the Uganda ERP II Development Technical Tasks Team, Education Strategic Advisory Group, and Uganda Education Consortium Advisory Group in the Child Protection Task Team. She oversees and advises the Uganda EiE different task teams that include: Accelerated Education, Inclusive Education, Information management, Double shift school system, Cash for education, secondary education, and Language task teams.
