During the Participatory Review, each applicant will score and comment on five other applications, using five criteria included in the scoring rubric: impactful, evidence-based, feasible, durable, and just. This is the same scoring rubric that the Wise Heads will use.
Scores will be calculated using an algorithm that ensures a level playing field for all applicants. In addition to scoring each application on the five criteria in the scoring rubric, applicants will also provide a final numerical score, ranging between 0-100, representing an overall assessment of quality for the entire application. We ask that each applicant reviewer carefully read the applications given to them and provide meaningful feedback
Participatory Review will result in a rank order of all valid submissions. Based on the rank order of scores, up to 500 applications will move forward to the Wise Head Panel.
Using the scoring rubric, the Wise Heads score and comment on up to 500 applications as determined by Participatory Review. These applications will receive an additional five sets of reviews that have been statistically normalized. The Wise Head Panel review will result in a rank order of submissions. Informed by the resulting rank order of applications after Wise Head review, up to five Finalists will be selected.
Informed by the results of the Wise Head Panel review, MacArthur’s Board of Directors will select up to five finalists. These finalists will be invited to work with a team of experts to further strengthen their proposals.
These finalists will receive recognition and support by being featured in our Bold Solutions Network.
Selection of the final award recipient rests with MacArthur’s Board of Directors.
