Dr. Farouk Lawan Gambo is a distinguished academic with a substantial background in computer science, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. He has made significant contributions to data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and educational technology.
Dr. Gambo completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Moddibo Adama University (MAU), Yola, from 2017 to 2021. His academic accomplishments include a Master's degree in Computer Science from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, earned between 2011 and 2013. His undergraduate studies at Bayero University, Kano, resulted in a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Gambo has obtained several professional certifications that reflect his technical proficiency. These include an International Advance Diploma in Networking and Security (2016), an International Diploma in Information Technology and Communication (2011), and a Certificate in VSAT Earth Installation, all from the Informatics Institute.
In 2021, Dr. Gambo completed a Ph.D. Internship at the University of Malaya in Malaysia, broadening his global perspective and research capabilities. This international experience enabled collaboration with fellow scholars on a global scale.
In 2022, Dr. Gambo secured the prestigious National Research Fund grant from Tetfund (TETF/DR&D-CE/NRF2021/SETI/ICT/00133) to develop droneguard, a cutting edge AI based airspace surveillance system which uses non invasive techniques to protect Nigeria’s airspace against intruding drones and other objects.
