Dr. Abha Rao is a faculty member at the Ramalingaswami Centre on Equity and Social Determinants of Health, Public Health Foundation of India. She is a social scientist with interdisciplinary training in family studies, human development, and medical anthropology, and has nearly 2 decades of work, research, and teaching experience in these areas. Her research has examined maternal and child anemia interventions, urban health through a gendered lens, adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights, and disrespect and abuse during labour and delivery.
