David Santiago currently works with the World Wildlife Fund in Colombia, responsible for mobilizing strategic partnerships to promote environmental conservation in Colombia, including through community-centered efforts. He was recognized as one of the most influential people in the social field in Colombia in 2018 while serving as General Director of TECHO Colombia, a nonprofit organization that mobilizes youth volunteers to fight extreme poverty in Latin America, including mobilizing more than 720,000 volunteers in Latin America, by constructing transitional housing and community infrastructure and implementing social inclusion programs. He was a youth representative at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, held in Colombia in 2017, and a speaker at the One Young World annual conference in The Hague in 2018 as a youth representative of Latin America and the Caribbean for issues related to poverty and youth mobilization.Over the past year, David Santiago has devoted efforts to support the reintegration of former FARC-EP combatants following the 2016 peace agreement, including by leading the creation and organization of a product fair in Bogotá for former combatants to present and sell their agricultural products and handicrafts (in alliance with the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, the Colombian Government, and several NGOs).
