Olayinka Fagbemiro is a Chief Scientific Officer at the Nigerian Space Agency where she has worked for 17 years. She heads the Space Education Outreach Unit of the agency. She is the National Astronomy Education Coordinator- Nigeria, for the Office of Astronomy for Education and Education and Public Relations Officer for the African Astronomical Society. Olayinka is a 2020_21 TechWomen Fellow for Nigeria. She is also the Founder of a STEM-Based NGO, Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) in Nigeria which organizes astronomical-based events on regular basis. These events represent an unprecedented opportunity for STEM awareness and support for STEM Education programs. AWB Nigeria uses astronomy as a tool to inspire children and as a starting point for continuing STEM education in their schools and addressing gender lopsidedness issues in school enrolment. AWB has also been involved with bringing STEM education to the less privileged in the society through programs with the children at the Internally Displaced People’s (IDP) camps across Nigeria.Olayinka is a Space Leader and a Karman Fellow, 2024.
