Leonora Dowley is an education development professional with particular interest in education philanthropy, the power of networks, sustainable development and the climate, girls’ education and teacher professional development. She is currently Senior Lead of Philanthropic Coalitions at the International Education Funders Group (IEFG), where she works with education funders to facilitate and encourage collaborations to advance educational innovations worldwide. Previously, Leonora was Head of Partnerships at the LearningPlanet Alliance, spearheading strategic collaborations across the network to address the challenges outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on learning ecosystems in the Global South, teachers, and the climate; and before that served as Chief Operating Officer at Aqua Africa, a social impact company working with governments across West Africa to supply water to under-resourced communities. Leonora is a trained teacher with a Master’s in education research, and has lived and worked in countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, most recently in Ghana where she was Country Director for the Varkey Foundation, leading interactive distance learning programmes to improve educational outcomes for displaced learners, out of school girls and primary school students, and professional development opportunities for teachers.
