Julia Jenjezwa

Hailing from Zimbabwe, Julia is a mechanical engineer passionate about product design, global health and engineering education. Possessing a keen interest in design for resource-limited settings, Julia has developed technical solutions to problems arising in the wake of humanitarian crises in Tanzania, Nepal, Kenya and the US Virgin Islands. Her teaching experience ranges from teaching object-oriented programming to eight-year old elementary school students to teaching welding and Arduino programming to active duty members of the US Marine Corps. Under the Rice 360° Institute for Global Health Technology’s Invention Education program, Julia served as founding manager of a Tanzanian university makerspace where she taught aspiring engineering to employ human-centered design thinking and hands-on manufacturing skills to fabricate solutions to problems within their community. Julia is continuing her work as a graduate student at Stanford University’s Engineering Design Impact program.
